In 2023, a study by Statista projected that the VR gaming industry would reach $12 billion by 2024, signaling a rising interest in this innovative approach.
This year I saw a lot more crash and whack-a-mole type games with a community element which perhaps are designed to appeal to Gen Z. What do you think is the next big thing? On point 3 I agree this is an opportunity and a threat, but probably more of an opportunity for some merging of this type of content. That is sort of happening via licensed content – see monopoly casino or FD using exclusive LNW land-based ports. Marko Matijevic On point 1 lots of the bigger operators have in-house content. In conclusion, the outlook of casino gaming lies in the successful combination of virtual and augmented reality. • On the topic of AI, as a user I would expect to see casinos getting much better at recommending games to me and tailoring CRM and offers based on my player profile using AI.

I think there are already some quite sophisticated player segmentation and intuitive programs out there but surely it will be much cheaper and easier for operators to adopt this kind of technology now? For example, how much faster it must be now to reskin a game that maybe had a good maths model but didn’t get enough coverage to be deemed successful, just by using AI. The tech has to be there and for igaming if it’s not compatible with a smart phone and playable privately whilst sitting in a public space it’s probably not going to get mass adoption. Beside, the user quality of VR isn’t that awesome. Considering the PC market has been bastardized by the Mobile/Tablet market, I can’t see „virtual reality” becoming a thing once more, least not for many, many years.

A casino group did this back in 2000, albeit minus the headset. My guess is that virtual reality trend will probably make a comeback. Though there’s always issues like these! Mm interesting, so perhaps innovation is being stunted by regulatory issues. On point 4 I again agree but this isn’t really anything new as such. In the end, B2C companies that focus on creating high-quality, exclusive experiences and play the long game will be the ones wining big.

As these innovations continue to progress, casinos must adjust to meet the demands of tech-savvy players. VR and AR systems offer players the capability to explore virtual casino floors, interact with dealers, and join in games with other players in immediate time.
